Glance InMobi Pte. Ltd. (“Glance”, “us”, “our” or “we”) provides a platform (application/software/feature or as made available in any other format) which enables end-users to explore and discover content or services through lock-screen including interesting stories, news, events, games, advertisements, or products, as they unlock their phone as well as partners to display their content (including advertising, games, promotional, entertainment or informational content) on the mobile, tablet, wearable and/or any other smart device used (“device”) of the end users and other related offerings (collectively “Glance Platform” or “Services”). We respect your privacy, and we are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This Privacy Policy is designed to help you understand how we collect, use, process, and share your personal information and to help you understand and exercise your privacy rights. Please read this policy carefully to understand our practices regarding your personal data or personal information.

  1. Scope

  2. This policy describes (i) the types of information we may collect when you access, and/or use the features of Glance Platform; (ii) the types of information we may collect or that you may provide when any advertisement or survey campaign is displayed on Glance Platform or as part of your interaction with any advertisement services provided by Glance or by the Group; (iii) how we use that information, and the purposes for which we collect it; and (iv) how we disclose such information.

    “Group” as used in this policy, means, with respect to Glance, its affiliates and group entities listed here.

    This Privacy policy applies to personal information we process, including information related to all users of the Glance Platform, including those users who view, access, or contribute to the Content (“Users”, “Contributors”, or “you”) in relation to their personal information that we collect and/or process through and/or in connection with the Glance Platform. The applicable privacy laws of certain countries may also extend to other categories of information (such as 'Personally Referable Information' in Japan) and this policy applies to such categories, where relevant.

    Important Notes:

    • For pre-loaded installations of the Glance Platform, please refer to the settings page of your smart device, or the terms of use of the application in which Glance is bundled to find the relevant privacy policy.

    • This Privacy Policy does not apply to Third-Party Data that we may obtain from other sources (other than Glance Platform) which provide us your personal information based on their respective privacy policies and your interaction with their offerings See below for more information about “Third-Party Data”.

    This policy does not apply to: (i) Third party’s websites, applications, channels, services, certain reward-based game programs, game content, or landing pages (“Sites”), that you may access through the Glance Platform, or (ii) Your participation in promotions or interaction with Third Party Content of any advertisers, content providers, e-commerce partners, reward partners or payment facilitators even if you elect to engage with any such content such as games, promotions, advertisement, product purchase on the Glance Platform; (iii) nor does it apply to information that you provide to or that is collected by any third party. Third Party’s respective privacy policies govern their collection and use of your information and may be available on the settings page of your smart device. These third-party services are not controlled by us. We encourage you to read any such non-Glance Platform terms, conditions, policies, notices of Site, including ad content, with which you interact. Glance does not endorse, screen, or approve, and assumes no responsibility for the privacy practices or content of any Sites you access or directly interact with through Glance Platform. We recommend that you review the privacy policies of such third parties that you interact with. Providing personal information to Sites is at your own risk. Any questions or requests relating to Third-Party Data should be directed to the third party. Glance is the controller for the personal information we process, unless otherwise stated.

  3. Information We Collect and How We Collect It

  4. We collect certain categories of information depending on how you interact with Glance Platform: Directly from you when you provide it to us; Automatically when you use the Glance Platform; and from other sources, as described below.

    • a. Information You Provide to Us

      We may collect the following personal information that you provide to us:

      • Your Preferences.
      • When you install, launch, access, update and/or use the Glance Platform on your mobile device, whether by downloading it from a mobile application store or using Glance Platform that is pre-installed on your mobile device, we may ask you to provide certain information, such as your content/category preferences, network preference, age, areas of interest, language preferences in order to customize the experience for you. We do not collect sensitive information such as biometric data, sexual preference, medical information, credit card or other banking related information.

      • Your Communications with Us.
      • We may collect personal information, such as name, email address, and/or phone number when you request information about our Services, request customer or technical support, or otherwise communicate with us.

      • Surveys displayed on your Glance Platform:
      • Glance Platform or its service providers may display certain marketing surveys or survey related applications to you where you voluntarily fill in a survey for services or products that you use or provide your opinion regarding certain products or services. Where you participate in our marketing or opinion-based surveys, you may be asked to voluntarily elect to provide certain data such as your age, name, email address, phone number, gender, income range, family size, occupation, preference for brands, modes of travel, choice of food or such other consumer choices. These surveys help the brands improve their products and services offered to you. Certain surveys may also provide certain reward options for your valuable feedback as clearly articulated in such surveys.

      • Interactive Features.
      • We, and others who use our Services, may process personal information that you submit or make available through our interactive features (such as, commenting functionalities, social media pages). Any information you provide using the public sharing features of the Services (referred to herein as “User Content”) will be considered “public,” unless otherwise required by applicable law. Your use of the interactive features and disclosure of your personal information are solely at your own risk.

      • Contests.
      • We may collect personal information you provide for any contests that we offer.

    • b. Automatic Information Collection and Tracking

    • When you access, and use the Glance Platform including your interaction with any advertisement or survey campaign displayed on the Glance Platform, we may use pixel tags, and other technology (“Technologies”) to automatically collect certain personal information: 

      • Usage Details.
      • When you access and use the Glance Platform, we may automatically collect certain details of your access to and use of the Platform, including interaction data, logs, your progress and activities in our Services, and other performance data and the resources that you access and use on or through the Platform, stories/videos/content you read, view, watch, interact with or otherwise access, pages that you visit before, during and after using our Services, information about the links you click, the frequency and duration of your activities, and other information about how you use our Services.

      • Device Information
      • We may collect information about your device and internet connection, including but not limited to, the one way hashed unique device identifier shared by OEMs, advertising identifier, IMEI, GPID, GAID, device make, IP Address, display features, user settings, operating system, browser information, mobile network information, and Internet service provider. Some of these data sets may be considered to be personal information and in which case, we ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws in our collection or use of the same, to the extent applicable in such jurisdictions.

      • Location Information.
      • The Glance Platform may use your IP address to estimate the city where your device is in order to provide locally relevant weather, information and advertisements.

      • Usage of the device in general:
      • The Glance Platform may collect data related to your access of other apps/widgets, used, by you, if you grant it permission to do so, to the extent such permission is required under privacy laws applicable in such jurisdictions.

      • Third party data:
      • This is information provided by our partners such as device manufacturers or carriers or telecom partners issuing smart devices, other application developers, data enrichment partners, or advertisers. The information provided in those cases follows the respective privacy policies of such third parties.

      • Information Collection and Tracking Technologies:
      • The technologies we as well as third parties that provide content, advertising, or other functionality on our Services, may use Technologies for automatic information collection through your use of our Services. The use of such Technologies may be subject to your consent in accordance with the applicable law.

      • Web Beacons/ Pixel Tags.
      • Pages of the Glance Platform may contain small electronic files known as web beacons (also referred to as clear gifs, pixel tags, and single-pixel gifs) embedded in our Services that collects information about engagement on our Services. The use of a pixel tag permits Glance, for example, to count users who have visited those pages, clicked on a particular advertisement, or for other related statistics (for example, recording the popularity of certain application content and verifying system and server integrity).

      Our uses of these Technologies fall into the following general categories:

      • Operationally Necessary.
      • This includes Technologies that allow you access to our Services, applications, and tools that are required to identify irregular website behavior, prevent fraudulent activity, improve security, or allow you to make use of our functionality.

      • Performance-Related.
      • We may use Technologies to assess the performance of our Services, including as part of our analytic practices to help us understand how individuals use our Services (see Analytics below). For example, we may track your in-Glance Platform activity, and other interactions with the platform.

      • Functionality-Related.
      • We may use Technologies that allow us to offer you enhanced functionality when accessing or using our Services. This may include identifying you when you sign into our Services or keeping track of your specified preferences, interests, or past items viewed.

      • Advertising- or Targeting-Related.
      • We may use first party or third-party Technologies to deliver content, including ads relevant to your interests, on our Services or on third-party websites.

      • Analytics.
      • We may use Technologies and other third-party tools to process analytics information on our Services. These technologies allow us to process usage data to better understand how our website and web-related Services are used, and to continually improve and personalize our Services.

        We may also use these technologies to collect information about your activities over time and across third-party websites, apps, or other online services (behavioral tracking).  

      • Social Media and Communications Platforms.
      • Our Services may also contain buttons which might include widgets such as the “share this” button or other interactive mini programs that allow you to share content on third-party platforms. These platforms may collect your IP address and which page you are visiting on our Services and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Your interactions with these platforms are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.

    • c.Third-Party Information Collection:When you use the Glance Platform or its content, certain third parties may use Technologies to collect information about your activities or your device. These third parties may include the Group (in their capacity as advertising partners), advertisers, ad networks, e-commerce partners, reward partners or payment facilitators, ad servers, attribution partners and analytics companies, your device manufacturer and/or your mobile service provider. The information they collect may be your personal information, including information about your online activities over time and across different websites, apps, IP address, and other online services. They may use this information to provide you with interest-based (behavioral) advertising or other targeted content when you visit digital properties within their networks. Please note that your interactions with these platforms are governed by the respective privacy policy of the company providing it and we do not control these third parties’ Technologies.
    • In the context of advertising displayed on Glance Platform, our customers, partners or vendors (“Ad-Third Parties”) may also disclose to us certain personal or non-personal information they have separately collected about you so that we can effectively provide our services. Glance Platform may facilitate promotion of certain products or services. If you elect to purchase, the providers of such products or services (e-commerce partners or other advertiser partners) may ask you to provide information such as your name, email, phone number, shipping address, and may further engage other payment partners for processing such transactions. Such payment partners may also obtain your information as part of such processing. Those transactions are governed by the e-commerce partners or advertiser partners’ respective privacy policies. Further, such partners may share certain transaction data with Glance such as transaction ID, status, product, checkout price, timestamp. For avoidance of any doubt, Glance does not provide any payment related services.

    • d.Information about advertisements presented on your Glance Platform:Glance also collects some or all of the following information about an ad presented on your device: (i) the content type of the ad (what the ad is about, e.g. games, entertainment, news); (ii) the ad type (e.g. whether the ad is a text, image, or video based ad); (iii) where the ad is being served (e.g. the address of the site on which the ad appears); and (iv) certain information about post-click activity in relation to the ad including user interaction with such ad.

  5. How We Use Your Information
  6. We (and our partners and the Group) may use information that is collected about you or that you provide, to (collectively referred to as “Permitted Purposes”):

    • a. Provide you with the Glance Platform features and its contents, fulfil our contract with you, such as: location-based news, events, featured stories, offers, products or services and any other information; manage your preferences ; answer requests for customer or technical support, activities on our Services, and policy changes; and
    • b. Provide advertisements and promotions that may be of interest to you or to run survey campaigns including targeted advertisements and monetization activities through Glance Platform and/or advertising channels of its Group or media partners as permitted by applicable law.
    • c. Notify or communicate with you about your opt-in/opt-out choices related to the Glance Platform, including service-related notifications.
    • d. Notify you when any relevant Glance Platform updates or upgrades are available and requires notification.
    • e. Estimate our audience size and usage patterns.
    • f. Speed up your searches.
    • g. Enrich, build custom audience segments or merged data sets (using the data referred herein and/or third party or Group provided data sets) to enable Glance Platform, Ad Partners or the Group to better target advertisements and offer their services.
    • h. Frequency cap the content displayed.
    • i. fulfil other administrative purposes, such as: pursuing our legitimate interests such as direct marketing, research and development (including marketing research), network and information security, and fraud prevention; detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent or illegal activity, and prosecute those responsible for that activity; ensure internal quality control and safety; authenticate and verify individual identities, including requests to exercise your rights under this policy; debug to identify and repair errors with our Services; audit relating to interactions, transactions, and other compliance activities; share information with third parties as needed to provide the Services; enforce our policies; and other uses as required to comply with our legal obligations.
    • j. Improve, upgrade, or enhance our services, attribution and to deliver a better personalized experience which may include short-term, transient use, such as interest-based advertising customized to individuals’ inferred interests, preferences and locations, measure interest and engagement in our Services; and to perform analysis aimed at improving your user experience.
    • k. Tailor and provide you with content and advertisements that are customized to the users’ interests and geographic locations, which Glance may derive or infer from information that it collects about how those users interact with such sites, over the top applications and apps (this type of advertising is often called “interest-based advertising” or “targeted advertising”). The information Glance collect from your device also helps to provide filtering options to manage ads appearing on the Glance Platform, and to provide targeting options for advertisers. Further, Glance may also obtain user data from our data partners, advertisers and/or advertisers’ partners for optimizing digital advertising and/or analytical purposes including to provide relevant advertising and reporting.See “Your Privacy Choices and Rights About Our Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Your Information” below to understand your choices regarding these Technologies.If you have any questions about our marketing practices, you may contact us anytime as set forth in “Contact Information” below.
    • l. fulfil the purpose for which you provide it.
    • m. honor your consent.
    • n. fulfil other purposes as requested by you, when you provide the information, for purposes stated in this policy, or as permitted by applicable law.
    • Automated Decision Making.We may engage in automated decision making, including profiling, such as displaying content that may be relevant to your interests on your device’s lock screen. Glance’s processing of your personal information will not result in a decision based solely on automated processing that significantly affects you unless such a decision is necessary as part of a contract we have with you, we have your consent, or we are permitted by law to engage in such automated decision making.     • De-identified and Aggregated Information.We may use personal information and other information about you to create de-identified and/or aggregated information, such as de-identified demographic information, information about the device from which you access our Services, or other analyses we create. If we create or receive personal data that has been de-identified or aggregated, we will not attempt to reidentify it, except to comply with applicable law.

  7. Disclosure of Your Information
  8. We may disclose your information to the third parties (as set out below) for a variety of business purposes, as described above, in accordance with applicable privacy laws and regulatory requirements:

    • a. To our key shareholders, Board, subsidiaries and the Group for our administrative purposes, including activities such as IT management, for them to provide services to you or support and supplement the Services we provide.
    • b. If an advertisement or monetization transactions are made available to you through advertising channels of Glance and/or its Group, Glance may share your data obtained by Glance with such Group for such advertising purposes.
    • c. o contractors, customers, data partners, brands, measurement companies, service providers, OEM, and other third parties we engage with for providing the Glance Platform and its services.
    • d. To a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, due diligence, financing, acquisition, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Glance assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which information held by Glance about Glance Platform users is among the assets transferred.
    • e. To third parties to market their products or services to you if you have not opted out of these disclosures or to business partners to provide you with a product or service you have requested or disburse your reward. We may also share your personal information with business partners with whom we jointly offer products or services.
    • f. If we, in good faith, believe doing so is required or appropriate to comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to law enforcement authorities and legal advisors or to respond to any government, national security, or regulatory request, or legal process, such as a court order or subpoena; protect your, our, or others’ rights, property, or safety; or assist with an investigation or prosecution of suspected or actual illegal activity.
    • g. To execute our obligations and enforce our rights arising from or in relation to any contracts including with respect to billing, collection, disputes
    • h. If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Glance, its Group, our customers, or others.
    • i. We may use third-party Application Program Interfaces (“APIs”) and Software Development Kits (“SDKs”) as part of the functionality of our Services. For more information about our use of APIs and SDKs, please contact us as set forth in “Contact Information” below.

  9. Your Privacy Choices and Rights About Our Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Your Information

  10. Your Privacy Choices. We strive to provide you with choices regarding the information you provide to us. This section describes mechanisms we provide for you to control certain uses and disclosures of over your information. You may elect to uninstall or unsubscribe from the Glance Platform. In the event, the Glance Platform is pre-loaded in your mobile device, please visit the settings page on your device to disable ‘Glance’ or ‘Glance Experience’ as made available under “Privacy” section on the settings page of your smart device.

    • a. Interest-based advertising:You can opt out of receiving certain targeted ads by visiting the third parties’ websites; however, please note that these links may not reach all of our advertising partners and certain advertising may still be displayed to you. If you want to be certain that no interest-based advertisements will be sent to you, please visit your “Settings” page of your smart device, click on Google, click on “Ads”, then select “Opt out of interest-based ads” on your Android device or such other opt-out mechanisms made available on your Device. Please note that if you opt-out of interest-based advertising you will still receive “generic” ads from Glance.
    • b. Surveys: EEach survey that you participate in would provide for clear opt-out instructions including option to skip, which if elected will ensure that we do not include your device for that survey. Please note that if you opt-out of a survey you will still receive other survey requests.
    • c. Mobile Devices:We may send you push notifications through our mobile application. You may opt out from receiving these push notifications by changing the settings on your mobile device.
    • d. Tracking Technologies:When receiving an alert to permit or not to permit to be tracked, you can select “do not allow to be tracked” on your smart device. Such selection will disable the use of tracking technologies, some parts of the Glance Platform may then be inaccessible or not function properly. You may opt-out of personalized advertisements on some mobile applications by following the instructions for Android, and others. The online advertising industry also provides websites from which you may opt out of receiving targeted ads from data partners and other advertising partners that participate in self-regulatory programs. You can access these and learn more about targeted advertising and consumer choice and privacy by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative, the Digital Advertising Alliance, the European Digital Advertising Alliance, and the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada .

    Please note you must separately opt out in each application and on each device.

    Your Privacy Rights. In accordance with applicable law, you may have the right to:

    • Access Personal Information about you, including: (i) confirming whether we are processing your personal information; (ii) obtaining access to or a copy of your personal information;
    • Request Correction of your personal information where it is inaccurate, incomplete or outdated. In some cases, we may provide self-service tools that enable you to update your personal information;
    • Request Deletion, Anonymization or Blocking of your personal information when processing is based on your consent or when processing is unnecessary, excessive or noncompliant;
    • Request Restriction of or Object to our processing of your personal information;
    • Withdraw your Consent to our processing of your personal information. Please note that your withdrawal will only take effect for future processing. Please note that when you withdraw your consent to processing of personal information, some features of our Service may not be available;
    • Request data portability of personal information that you have provided to us;
    • Be informed about third parties with which our application has shared your personal information that was collected by our application; and
    • Request the review of decisions taken exclusively based on automated processing if these decisions could affect your data subject rights.

  11. Data Security
  12. We have implemented commercially reasonable measures designed to ensure that your information is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Unfortunately, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you provide to us. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we do not accept liability for unauthorized disclosure.   13. Data Retention Period
  14. Glance may retain the personal information we collect as described in this Privacy Policy for as long as you use your Services, or as necessary to resolve disputes, establish legal defenses, conduct audits, pursue legitimate business purposes, enforce our agreements, and comply with applicable laws.

    Glance may retain the information it obtains about you as per the instructions of its customers or partners who provide such information or as required to fulfil our contractual obligations. In case any information is provided by you in participation of a survey, Glance will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes it collected it for.

    After the applicable retention period, Glance will delete or anonymize Your personal data.

  15. International Data Transfer
  16. All information processed by us may be transferred, processed, and stored anywhere in the world, including, but not limited to, the United States or other countries, which may have data protection laws that are different from the laws where you live. We shall safeguard your information consistent with the requirements of applicable laws.

  17. Supplemental Notice for California Residents
  18. This Supplemental Notice for California Residents only applies to our processing of personal information that is subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”). The CCPA provides California residents with the right to know what categories of personal information Glance has collected about them, and whether Glance disclosed that personal information for a business purpose (e.g., to a service provider) in the preceding 12 months. California residents can find this information below:

    The categories of sources from which we collect personal information and our business and commercial purposes for using personal information are set forth in “Personal Information We Collect” and “How We Use Your Personal Information” above, respectively.

    “Sharing” of Personal Information under the CCPA

    California residents have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of their personal information. Under the CCPA, “sale” is defined to include the transfer of personal information by a business to a third party for valuable consideration. ” Sharing” means transferring personal information for cross-contextual behavioural advertising, whether or not for monetary or other valuable consideration.

    We do not “sell” your personal information. We may “share” the following categories of personal information with advertising networks and partners.

    Profile reflecting a consumer’s preferences, characteristics, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities, and aptitudes.

    Our business and commercial purposes for “sharing” personal information can be found in “How We Use Your Information” above. We do not have actual knowledge of any “sale” of personal information of minors under 16 years of age.

    “Opt-out of Sharing.” California residents may opt-out of the “sale” or “sharing” of their personal information by accessing the option available in your application’s privacy setting/contacting us as set forth in “ Contact Information” below.

    Additional Privacy Rights for California Residents

    Non-Discrimination. California residents have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment by us for the exercise of their rights conferred by the CCPA.

    Authorized Agent. Only you, or someone legally authorized to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child. To designate an authorized agent, please contact us as set forth in “Contact Information” below and provide written authorization signed by you and your designated agent.

    Verification. To protect your privacy, we will take the following steps to verify your identity before fulfilling your request. When you make a request, we will ask you to provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected personal information or an authorized representative, which may include asking you to answer questions regarding your account and use of our Services.

    If you are a California resident and would like to exercise any of your rights under the CCPA, please contact us as set forth in “Contact Information” below. We will process such requests in accordance with applicable laws.

    Accessibility. This Privacy Policy uses industry-standard technologies and was developed in line with the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1. If you wish to print this policy, please do so from your web browser or by saving the page as a PDF.

    California Shine the Light. The California “Shine the Light” law permits users who are California residents to request and obtain from us once a year, free of charge, a list of the third parties to whom we have disclosed their personal information (if any) for their direct marketing purposes in the prior calendar year, as well as the type of personal information disclosed to those parties
